Michael Lovett (NZCA LINES)

Listen
+1

Wish You Were Here is a series of sonic postcards - a glimpse into the sounds of different scenes and happenings. Moments captured from across the world.

Michael Lovett is a keyboardist, guitarist, film / advertising composer and synth obsessive who has over a decade of experience writing, producing and performing both for himself and for other internationally acclaimed artists.

NZCA Lines is Michael's synthpop project. As NZCA LINES, he has released two EPs and three critically acclaimed albums since 2011. Michael is also a touring member of Metronomy and has worked on projects like Christine and the Queens, VIAA and Oscar Scheller. Find more on Michael here.

For this iteration of Wish You Were Here, Michael gave us this explanation and some photos to accompany the submitted recording:

"These recordings describe the moments leading up to, and following, two concerts I played in Mexico City on the weekend of Oct 28th. The first was a Metronomy concert at Pepsi Centre to 8000 people; the second, a NZCA LINES concert (and Halloween party) at Teatro Lucido, a small performing arts theatre in the Santa Maria la Ribera area, to 150 people. I was only able to capture the inbetween moments, and wanted to draw attention to the things you wouldn't usually hear; the insides of airports, vans and taxis, the sound of a football bouncing in an empty arena, distant drums at soundcheck, the sound of cicadas outside just before a show starts."
