Musicians Mel Hines and Nathanie chat at the Water Cooler!
Mel Hines cites the “the importance of being mysterious” as his driving factor for presenting art without much context of who he is as an artist. In response, Nathanie brought up Monet’s impressionistic paintings which force the viewer to generate details beyond the painting, forming a more interactive audience-artist relationship.
Through the course of their conversation, the two musicians also touch on points such as:
Analyzing music.
Listening to music as a musician.
Do you listen for lyrics or sound?
The joy of experiencing something for the first time.
Trust in your imagination that it will always provide creative outcomes.
How do you define your best work?
The duty of paying your dues.
…all while only having met once before!
