Wish You Were Here is a series of sonic postcards - a glimpse into the sounds of different scenes and happenings. Today we chat with The Josh Craig about the sounds of a moment when he knew he should trust his gut.
The Josh Craig is an audio-visual artist currently based in New York City & Lisbon. His original music is deep and emotive while his DJ sets are vinyl focused explorations through electronic soul music. TJC's visual works are abstract with a strong emphasis on gradient designs and still life photography.

Where were you?
I was in Hackney, London standing outside of My Analog Journal’s studio killing time before my performance.
What were you feeling at the moment?
I was feeling a bit nervous and anxious as it was my 1st time ever in England but I knew I had to be there. I was alone with a bag of records and a crazy outfit thinking I was the man of the hour haha
What does listening back bring up for you?
Listening to the recording brings back the memory of trusting my gut and going for what feels right. Plus, the lady singing in the clip reminded of the lasting impacts of soul music on one's life.
How have you changed since this was recorded?
Since the recording I feel I’ve better adapted to my surroundings and have since been focusing more on taking time for myself not just working all the time.
What did you record the submission on?
I recorded the audio on my cell phone which is funny because I usually have my field recorder in my bag.
Why are you sharing your submission?
I am sharing this submission as it was a very special day for me and the timing to be standing out front at that very moment when the lady walked by singing songs dancing in the street couldn’t be more perfect. Life is funny like that. If you feel like you don’t know if you made the right decision or not, just take a second and listen to the sounds around you as there may be a sign waiting right in front of you.
