Call-N-Response: Hagihara Takuya

Listen

Hii Team's Image Association Game. “Let’s give sound to this image, chosen by Maya, by graphic designer Hagihara Takuya."

What song do you associate with the below image? Find out what our team thinks and listen to the accompanying playlist.

Source, Hagihara Takuya

(Selected by Maya)

Kira:
[Various - Cell Block Tango] Staring at this long enough, I started to see a person just blissfully dancing + vibing. I had an amazing friend dance party moment this past weekend, and a highlight was an impromptu performance of Cell Block Tango from Chicago. Really can’t go wrong!!

Torin:
[BADBADNOTGOOD - Signal From The Noise] First thing that came to mind is pretty literal, but I imagine that this is what that image could sound like if it was moving and morphing around.

Hayley:
[Gorillaz - Empire Ants] This picture reminds me of a sunrise which makes me think of Empire Ants by Gorillaz, a perfect woozy summer jam.

Jackie!:
[Mitski - Drunk Walk Home] I’ve had a moment of enlightenment! This picture reminds me of this, for the mini explosions simmering in all of us under the surface!

Maya:
[Xiu Xiu - Pumpkin Attack on Mommy and Daddy] I gave myself exactly 77 seconds to come up with a reference - immediately landed on Pumpkin Attack on Mommy and Daddy by Xiu Xiu song based on the saturation of this image. I listen to this song when I need to hustle, I’ve written an aggro walking-only dance score to this song - there’s something about the resolution of this picture that feels so grainy and late, so distinctly this song.
