Hii Teams' Bi-Weekly Image Association Game. “Let’s give sound to sculptures that can’t speak”
What song do you associate with the below image? Find out what our team thinks and listen to the accompanying playlist.

Will:
[Gene Wilder - Pure Imagination] “Especially with the first picture, I couldn't help but think of Gene Wilder singing Pure Imagination as Willy Wonka. It looks like one giant blown-up candy that kids can eat (and one misbehaving child will eventually get trapped inside). Keeping with the story, the second picture makes me think the candy just gets up and walks away with the kid still inside of it.”
Cass:
[Cleaners From Venus - Corridor of Dreams] “These structures are very playful and dream-like to me, so I'm going to go with 'Corridor of Dreams' by Cleaners From Venus.
Kira:
[The Blob - The Five Blobs] “Just like these sculptures, this song is fun and whimsical on the surface but at the end of the day, you just know there is no escaping The Blob…”
Torin:
[Visible Cloaks - Screen] “First thought was ‘Screen’, the classic opener from Visible Cloaks' debut album Reassemblage. I love the way their music blends highly synthetic sounds with natural textures in really dynamic + psychedelic ways, much like Kusama's bendy, blobby sculptures inhibit the natural surroundings of the botanic garden. I feel like these sculptures could make a lot of the sounds found in this track if they could speak! ”
Spurge:
[Ben Chatrer - What Have I Done!]
“These sculptures feel like the psychedelic scenes from the film Dumbo. I recall watching those as a kid and feeling uncomfortable because despite the shiny colors and lights, it's pretty anxiety-inducing. The organ-like sound in this feels like it should be fun, almost circus-like but it's also kind of creepy..which is how I feel about these sculptures. They're beautiful and also a bit menacing.“
“Again, due to the psychedelic nature of these sculptures. This is a pretty easy/obvious choice :P”
