Conversations from a recent Water & Mixer mixer held at Hii about "the metaverse".
The metaverse! What is it? To be honest, I’m not totally sure. Is it good? Is it bad? Can it at least be more interesting than people talking about space?
We at Hii decided to find out firsthand.
On June 21st, we welcomed music tech research group and DAO (that’s “decentralized autonomous organization”), Water & Music, to our space to hold a mixer for their members as a part of NFT.NYC week.
At the event, we recorded conversations surrounding ‘Community and Social Design in Virtual Worlds’ to present diverse perspectives on the topic. Water & Music’s Diana Gremore spoke with Michelle Cortese, adjunct professor at NYU and design manager at Meta (fka Facebook), as well as David Tennent, a visual artist and computer programmer, to get their thoughts on the metaverse and building community beyond our immediate world.
The conversation was a precursor to Water & Music’s Season 2 research on the metaverse: where over 30 community members came together to ask questions and seek answers - keep an eye out for the research over at their site.
