In a new monthly series called ‘Earshot’, contributor Selwa Abd points towards grant opportunities for musicians/artists, provides insight into the process of seeking opportunities and more.
Pick Up The Flow is an online resource and community, based in NYC, created and operated by musician and designer Selwa Abd aka Bergsonist. In a new monthly series called ‘Earshot’, we invite Selwa to point towards grant opportunities for musicians/artists, provide insight into the process of seeking opportunities, plus profiling members from the PUTF community with the intent of educating you on how to find financial/communal support for your sound and music projects.
For this month’s installment, Selwa speaks with Mariko Tamegai, a reiki practitioner and member of the Pick Up The Flow community about her practice and the involvement of sound in it.

I feel like many of us have been depressed, anxious since last year. Some of them were suffering longer before the pandemic. I was depressed too. It was a tough year for all of us.
I highly recommend doing this little exercise. When you are overwhelmed or need peace of mind.
First: Place your hand on your tummy, other hand on your heart. then close your eyes.
Second: Deep breath in and out Three times. please, focus on your breath and feel your hands:) It makes so much difference just three times deep breath in & out!
You can continue to deep breath in & out. until you feel grounded or calm if you'd like:)
This is useful too. We all need to have some boundaries.
I have so many resources. If you need more, ask me :)
